In my closing message to you as 2009 - 2011 Urban Financial Services Coalition-New York ("UFSC-NY") President, I reflect on what an outstanding two (2) years it has been! Our theme for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011 is "UFSC-NY: We are Resilient!" I am humbled and moved by the remarkable impact our organization has on its members, stakeholders and the community.

We held our Annual Leadership Program on May 26, 2011, entitled, "Strategies for Optimizing Career Opportunities" which exemplifies our commitment to members, stakeholders and the community. Our Guest Speakers were Mr. Vera, Assistant Dean, Director, MBA Office of Career Management, Rutgers Business School and Mr. Sharpe, Director, Improving Communications, LLC. Mr. Vera and Mr. Sharpe shared practical advice with the audience in setting goals and achieving those goals while navigating careers. UFSC-NY is dedicated to meeting the needs of its membership, stakeholders and the community through programs, mentoring, networking and financial literacy.

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your President. Thank you for your dedication and support. A few of our accomplishments are highlighted below:

• 2009 - Scholarship Reception, Keynote Speaker, Ms. Arva Rice, President & CEO, New York Urban League, at the Studio Museum in Harlem, NY
• 2009 - Salute to Youth Program, Keynote Speaker, Mr. Roderick Hardamon, Managing Director, Head of Integration - Securities and Fund Services, Citi, Global Transaction Services
• 2010 - Leadership Summit - Lessons from the Executives' Desk with panelists: Robert Armstrong, CAO, Citi, Sekou H. Kaalund, MD, JPMorgan Chase, Francis Byrd, MD, The Altman Group and Deborah Larrison, Director, Bank of America/Merrill Lynch
• 2010 - Financial Literacy Day - December 16, 2010 - UFSC-NY partners with Operation Hope to teach B.O.O.F curriculum at High School of Arts & Technology in New York City
• 2011 - Women History Month - "The ABCs of Protecting Your Health" - Guest Speakers:Dr. Sarah Lilly, Internal Medicine and Maudene Nelson, RD, CDE
• 2011 - "Closing the Interview & Salary Negotiations - Workshop", Facilitators, Zeke Goulbourne and Chris Tully, Hunter-Green Associates, Ltd.
• 2011 - "UFSC-NY New Webpage" - courtesy of Mr. Stanley O. Harris, Founder and CEO, Web Yourself Now! and UFSC-NY member

The NY Chapter Elections will be held in July and all candidates must be a UFSC-NY member in good standing for the 2010-2011 fiscal year ending June 30, 2011 for nomination to be considered. YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT
